ABOUT!

BoYuan (伯远), whose real name is TangHao (汤浩), was born on February 11, 1993 in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China.BoYuan developed an interest in singing and dancing at a very young age. One of his earliest memories is of him at age 4, listening to Cantopop boy band Beyond's music during car rides with his uncle. As a teen, he would spend hours browsing CD stores, eagerly collecting albums from his favorite artists, immersing himself in their music and drawing inspiration from their artistry. These formative experiences fueled his determination to pursue a career in the world of performance. At the age of 14, BoYuan took his first steps towards his dreams of becoming a performer. Motivated by the audition details he stumbled upon on the back of his copy of Chinese boy band Super Junior M's "迷" (Me) album, he bravely sent an application email to South Korean entertainment agency SM Entertainment, but despite his eagerness, he didn't receive a response. Undeterred by the setback, BoYuan embarked on a journey of self-improvement, diligently honing his skills through self-practice and enrolling in singing and dancing classes.Despite his passion for music and performance, BoYuan faced his family's objection when he expressed his desire to attend a performing arts school and pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Respectful of his family's wishes, he made the difficult decision to set aside his aspirations temporarily and enrolled at Sanya University, where he majored in Public Relations and Secretarial Studies. However, his love for music remained unwavering. During evenings, he performed as the lead singer and frontman for his band, allowing him to stay connected to his musical roots.Post-graduation, BoYuan tried out various jobs, including a stint as an entertainment reporter for a newspaper. It was during this period that he had the opportunity to interview esteemed actor and singer, Chow Yun-fat, who praised him for having a handsome face and a sweet smile during the interview. Inspired by Chow Yun-fat's words, BoYuan felt a renewed sense of purpose and resolved to pursue his long-held dreams of making it in the entertainment industry.BoYuan began his trainee life in January 2015, travelling to Beijing, Hainan, Wuxi and even South Korea to interview with companies in pursuit of opportunities. In August 2015, he auditioned to be part of an upcoming idol project in Shanghai, was accepted, and debuted in September 2015 as the leader of 7 member co-ed group IP Family under his real name TangHao. He was one of the only 2 male members, and was the oldest in the group. After the group underwent lineup changes, BoYuan left IP Family in May 2016.After interviewing at several companies, BoYuan went on to successfully sign with White Media, an entertainment company based in Shanghai, at the end of May 2016. However, their excitement was short-lived as their company forced them to return to their dormitories the day before they were scheduled to film their self-introductions for the show. BoYuan returned to Shanghai, and after the ZERO-G teams were reshuffled in March 2018, he was merged into Team E.In 2019, BoYuan participated in Chinese idol survival show 青春有你 (Youth With You) S1, but despite his dedication and talent, failed to make it past the semi-finals and finished his run on the show at rank 34. Eager to explore new opportunities, he then decided to attempt to join Produce 101 Japan. However, as the show was looking to take on only individual trainees without a company background, BoYuan's application was not approved. In 2020, the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted BoYuan's activities with ZERO-G, leaving him at a crossroads in his entertainment career. Upon recommendation of his vocal teacher, he began working as an online vocal instructor at Chinese singer Hu Yanbin's Newband Music School. While conducting an online introductory vocal class, BoYuan encountered a young waiter who took his class in a busy bathroom at his workplace.
